We are really lucky at Burford School. We have great food and good staff that are passionate about their jobs and providing the best for the children. We have an exciting range of hot and cold food available at both break and lunchtime. The menus are full of both tasty food and food that is healthy. We provide home-cooked and healthy foods. This year we have even been able to use some fresh ingredients - home grown - from the Learning Centre Garden. How about that for low food miles Jamie? I’m Mrs Julie Cox, the Catering Manager and my staff – Mrs Fisher, Mrs Barker, Ms Gough, Mrs Harris and Miss Patterson pride ourselves at Burford School on high standards of hygiene in our food preparation. We were awarded a certificate from the Environmental Health Department in their ‘scores on the doors’ programme as a result of an inspection in 2009. We achieved a score of 4 out of 5.
The dining rooms are split into two halves. The West Dining Room is for Year 7 & 8s. This provides them with a great space to meet with their friends over lunch and it is really great to see all of them chatting with their friends whilst eating their meal. The East Dining Room is for the older children in Years 9, 10 & 11. Sixth formers have the choice of eating in the East Dining Room or eating in the block which is the room next door.
The school operates a meal credit card system. Parents can make payments to the card by the using this order form and students can load the card using machines located in the foyer by the hall and outside the West Dining Room.
We are also really pleased with our recent renovations.
Our meal service times are:
10.30am – 10.50am Morning Break: A selection of Hot and Cold snacks and drinks are available (Please see current menus).
12.20pm – 1.20pm Lunchtime: Full lunch menu with a choice of main meals snacks and pasta bar. Healthy options are always available (Please see current menus).
Healthy Snacks and Chilled Water can also be purchased via vending machines in the Dining Room.
Could we ask that students not take hot food bought from the canteen outside the dining rooms or the block.
Also, please help us to keep our school tidy by using the litter bins that are provided in the canteen and all around school.
